What is a Giclee print?
Giclee prints are also called "Iris Giclee Prints" after the French
company who developed this new "state of the art" technology. The word "Giclee"
in French means "to spray" as the ink is actually sprayed onto the
watercolor paper or canvas. Giclee printing offers the highest degree of
accuracy and richness of color, providing museum quality images which are
as close to the original painting as possible. Giclees are printed on
smooth archival Arches watercolor paper or canvas, which makes the print
very closely resemble the original. |

What is a Lithograph print?
Originally, "lithographs" were prints made by the artist actually etching
the artwork image onto a stone, then applying ink to the stone and
pressing it onto paper. Today, lithographs are made by the same process,
but done by professional printers who make metal plates, one for each
color, who then press the plates, one after another, onto the paper to
make the print. Lithographs are printed on a very slightly shiny paper. |

How do I care for my prints?
Whether you decide on a Lithograph or Giclee Print, you will be receiving
a fine art print which will last more than 75 years, if cared for
properly. Avoid direct sunlight and moisture. All framing materials that
touch the print should be should be "acid-free" or "conservation"
quality. If your artwork will be hung in a bright sunny location, we
recommend using UV protective glazing. |

What is a Remarque?
A
remarque is a hand drawn detail which is added to a print. It is usually
done in the margins of the print by the artist. Remarques are usually
pencil or black ink drawings. My remarques are hand painted separate
small paintings which are not attached to the print, and are usually
matted in a small window below the main print. I offer them for the buyer who would like an original
painting as an addition to their fine art print. |

What is an Artist's Proof?
In
the past, Artist's Proofs were a way for itinerant artists to earn a
salary while painting commissions. Today, Artist's Proofs are considered a
special edition of prints. They are available in very limited edition
sizes. They do not differ in quality from the regular limited edition
print. Artist's Proofs have the designation "AP" next to the limited
edition numeration. The total number in each of my Artist's Proof
editions is 10% of the limited edition size. The price of Artist Proofs
is 20% higher than the regular limited edition price. Each limited
edition print is available in an Artist's Proof edition. |

What is
a Certificate of Authenticity?
All prints are professionally printed and limited editions are strictly
adhered to. This is often called "print integrity." When a limited
ediition is sold out, no more of that edition will be printed. A
"Certificate of Authenticity" includes: name of print, artist statement,
edition size, number of the print, name and date of printer, and printing
technique. We will gladly include a Certificate of Authenticity if
requested.
